Quo Vadis Europa? Avui, celebrant el 60è aniversari del Tractat de Roma que va donar origen a l’actual Unió Europea, és moment de mirar enrere i sentir-nos orgullosos de tot el que hem aconseguit plegats, de recordar i si cal recuperar els valors que ens han mantingut units: la pau, la democràcia i la solidaritat. Tanmateix, també és el moment de mirar endavant i de preguntar-nos si el model que tenim pot millorar-se i quina Europa volem per les generacions futures.
És per aquest motiu que el president Juncker acaba de presentar el Llibre blanc sobre el futur d’Europa. Aquest document obre un procés de reflexió col·lectiu que implicarà el Parlament Europeu, els parlaments nacionals, els governs, els pobles i regions d’Europa i la societat civil. El programa que aquí es presenta és una aportació magnífica a aquesta reflexió.

Amb aquest lema volem subratllar el procés que va viure l’Estat Espanyol, i Catalunya en particular, en la construcció d’una cultura de la pau.
Posem l’accent en dos factors essencials. En primer lloc en mostrar com a Catalunya les arts han estat un dels motors més importants que des del primer moment ns a l’actualitat han estat constructores d’una societat democràtica, plural i solidària.
En segon lloc en la formació de la nova ciutadania. És per aquest motiu que la segona jornada està focalitzada en treball amb els joves escolars. Aquests són els dos eixos que, imbricats, vertebren el programa que presentem.

Quo Vadis Europa? Today, celebrating the 60th anni- versary of the Rome Treaty that gave rise to the present European Union, it is time to look back and be proud
of what we have achieved together, to remember and recover, if necessary, the values that bind us together: peace, democracy and solidarity. However, it is also time to look forward and ask ourselves whether the model we have can be improved and what is the Europe we want for our future generations.
That’s why the President Juncker has presented the White Paper on the future of Europe. This document opens up a process of collective re ection that will involve the European Parliament, national parliaments, governments, peoples and regions of Europe and civil society. The program presented here is a magni cent contribution to this discussion.

With this claim, we want to highlight the process that Spain, and Catalonia in particular, experiencied in the construction of a culture of peace.
We put the emphasis on two essential factors. In the rst place, by showing how arts in Catalonia have been one of the most important engines for a society built on solidarity and democracy.
In the second place, in the formation of new citizens- hip. This is the reason why the agenda of the second day is focused on working with young people in school. These are the key issues that make up our proposal.
